The 2017 Fishing report
Business of catching fish is good! We have caught some nice Amberjacks this Spring and we have also caught more Red and Gag Grouper than all of last year combined. Due to the tight restrictions on Red Snapper, we are beginning to see much larger class of Red Snapper than we have seen in a decade. Thanks to the Federal Government’s tight restrictions we have produced more 24” plus Red Snapper than in years past. We are catching and releasing some record size Trigger fish and hopefully we will be allowed to harvest Trigger fish soon.
On the Pelagic side of things, the King Mackerel bite is becoming consent. Couple of large Sailfish have already been caught in the area and some charters have produced Black fin Tuna and Mahi Mahi on shorter 6 and 8 hour trips.
